A SEMINAR on mental health was organized jointly by the Philippine Mental Health Association (PMHA) Pangasinan-Dagupan City-San Carlos City Chapter and the Dagupan City government last week at CSI Stadia in observance of the World Mental Health Day and National Mental Health Week.

Mayor Belen T. Fernandez, who was in USA, was represented in the event by Marrien Mejia, head of the Gender and Development office, as guest of honor and speaker, spoke on the theme: Calamity, Trauma, Crisis: “A Call of Time”.

In her message, Mejia stressed the importance of conducting seminars on mental health pointing out that “mental disability does not only steal a person’s life but also isolates himself from family and friends, blurs his future, and renders him hopeless to achieve the dreams he once set for himself.”

Socorro G. Ramos, president of PMHA Pangasinan-Dagupan City-San Carlos City Chapter, presided over the program. Also present at the affair attended by teachers, employees of the city and provincial government, DSWD and students, was Sandeep Kumar, president of the Rotary Club of Central Pangasinan.
