LINGAYEN– After five months of battling legal issues defending itself, an online English tutorial center whose operations were mistakenly suspected to be involved in human trafficking and cyber-sex operations, has finally been able to resume its normal operations.

It was made possible by the return of the computers and other properties seized from Kamehachi Corporation during a raid last March 17 by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)- National Capital Region (CIDG-NCR) to the center.

“God knows what is right,” remarked Erlinda Tandoc, the president of the Kamehachi Corporation, the online English tutorial center located along Avenida St., Lingayen, with the conclusion of their court battles.

The online center catering to Japanese, Korean, Chinese, and Russian young and adult students has also began hiring more teachers.

Tandoc said that on August 22, Presiding Judge Renato Pinlac of RTC- San Carlos City Branch 57 approved their motion to quash search warrant on August 15, 2014 and ordered CIDG-NCR- Criminal Investigation and Detection Group thru Chief Inspector Rodolfo Delos Reyes to return of all properties seized by the raiding team.

Last June 4, 2014, the prosecutor general at the Department of Justice (DOJ) dismissed the anti-trafficking in persons case filed against the tutorial center for insufficient evidence.

Last March 17, a team from CIDG-NCR, armed with a search warrant raided the two-storey center and seized at least 99 desktop computers, four laptops, seven servers, one car (Toyota sedan), one Van (Toyota Grandia), cash (P694,520; Y20,000; $700), cameras, passport, and other documents.

Over a hundred online English-as-second-language (ESL) teachers were elated by the resumption of the center’s operations.  (Johanne R. Macob)
