It’s going to be MARK & MARK IN 2016!
COJUANGCO UPDATES
CALASIAO—It’s now 100 percent certain that Calasiao Mayor Mark Roy Macanlalay will be the running mate of former Pangasinan fifth district Congressman Mark Cojuangco who is eyeing the gubernatorial post in 2016, as vice governor.
In a press conference held Thursday, Cojuangco, provincial chairman of the Nationalist People’s Coalition, told local newsmen that he is very happy that Macanlalay announced during his birthday celebration that he is accepting the offer of Cojuangco after several months of consultation and study about the new challenge in his political life.
Former Pangasinan fifth district Congressman Mark Cojuangco (holding the microphone) and Calasiao Mayor Mark Roy Macanlalay face the local media to announced “It’s 100 percent it will be a Mark and Mark team” for the gubernatorial and vice-gubernatorial tandem for the 2016 elections. Joining them is Macanlalay’s father, Vice Mayor Roy Macanlalay (left), Abono partylist founder Engr. Rosendo and the town and barangay officials of Calasiao.
Cojuangco, son of business tycoon former Ambassador Eduardo “Danding” Cojuangco, said he and Macanlalay complement each other, adding that while he (Cojuangco) has more experience in public service, Macanlalay, on the other hand is in touch with the younger generation.
“It’s not only the experience that you need, the wisdom and knowledge, but you must also have a sense on what the people, especially the young ones feel,” Cojuangco said. Macanlalay, now in his second term, is only 29 years old and single.
Cojuangco said he feels good with his choice of Macanlalay as his running mate. “It’s a strong political choice for the people, whoever will be our opponent, with the combination of Mark and Mark,” he added.
He is optimistic people will approve of their combination for 2016.
Macanlalay, for his part, said he saw the noble intentions of Cojuangco to serve Pangasinan and his principles in public service, so he accepted the offer as his tandem.
Macanlalay was joined by municipal council and barangay officials during the formal declaration of the Mark and Mark tandem in a press conference.
“This will be a concerted effort…. We will be standing beside each other for the NPC party and we will be standing together beside the candidacy of Congressman Mark,” Macanlalay said.
“Dynamic, intelligent and independent-minded are the youth and so we will present to them our accomplishments. We will not make promises but one thing we can assure them, we will be bringing the Capitol closer to the people,” the mayor said.
Earlier this month, sixty district leaders had pledged their commitment for the Mark and Mark team.
Cojuangco has bared his gubernatorial plan for 2016 in February yet and has since then been going around Pangasinan informing the people about his intention.
