Governor Eyes Zero Maternal Mortality Rate

Lingayen – – -The present administration’s maternal thrust which envisions to realize ‘zero mortality’ rate in the coming years through the promotion of “Anak Ko, Buhay Ko, Mahal Ko” project will be brought to all barangays in all 47 municipilaties and cities in Pangasinan.
Speaking before some 500 pregnant women during the 6th Buntis Congress at the Pangasinan Training and Development Center (PTDC), Governor Amado T. Espino, Jr. said that the campaign encourages pregnant mothers to develop good health-seeking behavior and make them become fully aware of the importance of availing at least four pre-natal check-ups in the course of their nine-month pregnancy.

Also present were officers of the Philippine Medical Society (PMS)-Pangasinan chapter, Philippine Obstetrics and Gynecological Society (POGS)-Region I Chapter and R1MC doctors, Philhealth representatives, and Binmaley Councilors Edgar Mamenta and Amelito Sison. /MVS
The governor said that the present administration endeavored to enhance all 14 government hospital in Pangasinan which includes provision of birthing facilities to cater to the needs of all expectant mothers.
“Lahat po ng OB wards ng labing-apat na ospital natin ay inayos at pinaganda para matiyak ang kaligtasan ng lahat ng inang manganganak,” he said as he further disclosed that all six district hospitals and seven community hospitals now have air-conditioned OB wards except for Pangasinan Provincial Hospital (PPH).
On the other hand, he stressed that enhancement of PPH OB wards is underway along with an improved and secured referral system and ambulance network to further improve health care services in Pangasinan.
The provincial government will acquire 10 more new ambulances in addition to the 34 existing hospital ambulances.
Gov. Espino said the pregnant women will have no financial constraints if they give birth on any of the 14 government-owned hospitals of Pangasinan by availing of the ‘point-of-care’ program.
Recently, the provincial government has implemented PhilHealth’s point of care program and has allocated P60 million so that poor pregnant women can be enrolled in PhilHealth as soon as they are admitted in any of the 14 hospitals /RRB
