Ex-mayor’s brod nabbed in drug buy-bust

THE brother of a former mayor of San Fabian town was arrested for dealing illegal drugs in Dagupan City.

P/Supterintendent Christopher Abrahano, city police chief, told The PUNCH that Salvador Magliba alias ‘Ablast,’ 59, resident of Barangay Nibaliw Magliba, San Fabian town and brother of former Mayor Romulo Magliba was arrested in a buy-bust operation at around 2:00 a.m. on July 29 in front of a bar in Arellano St, Barangay Pantal.

Abrahano said the suspect handed the one piece of small heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing shabu to the poseur-buyer police officer. After his arrest, two more pieces of small heat-sealed plastic sachets containing shabu and one .38 caliber revolver “paltik” were confiscated from the suspect’s possession.

The police also seized Magliba’s Ford Everest that he was driving to to transport the drugs. Abrahano pointed out that transporting of drugs is an offense.

The Maglibas are known locally and internationally for the Crusader of the Divine Church of Christ established by the Magliba patriarch, the late Rufino Magliba, popularly known as “Apo Ruping” in 1950, that now claims millions of followers around the world.

Cases for violation of sections 5 and 11 of Republic Acts 9165 and 10591 respectively were filed against the arrested suspect. (Tita Roces)
