City provides Philhealth coverage to 1,648 more
ANOTHER batch of 1,648 beneficiaries in Dagupan City have been provided PhilHealth coverage through the Alagang Balon Dagupan expanded health program of Mayor Belen T. Fernandez.
Among the beneficiaries were barangay-based volunteer workers and members of the barangay council, barangay health workers, day care workers, members of the barangay police, barangay service point officers, barangay nutrition scholars, garbage collectors, punong barangays, barangay kagawads, barangay administrators, barangay secretaries, barangay treasurers and members of the Lupong Tagapamayapa.
Pregnant women were also given their PhilHealth cards as part of the mayor’s advocacy to achieve zero maternal and child death in the city.
At present, some 16,000 Dagupeños are already guaranteed quality heath care through Philhealth and the number is expected to increase further as Mayor Fernandez has ordered the City Social Welfare and Development Office and the City Health Office to continue identifying more indigent–beneficiaries in far-flung barangays.
“We will not stop until all indigent and needy Dagupeños are provided with Philhealth cards,” the mayor said.
During the distribution, Salapingao Punong Barangay Delfin De Guzman expressed his gratitude to the administration of Mayor Fernandez because finally he is PhilHealth-insured at the age of 73 and after 13 years of being the barangay leader.
“Ngayon lang nabigyan ng ganitong benepisyo ang aming barangay sa tinagal-tagal kong naging kapitan,” De Guzman said.
Meanwhile, Rhona Paloma of Barangay Pugaro who is now about to give birth, thanked the city government for providing pregnant women with PhilHealth cards because she is no longer hesitant to go to the hospital on account of the no balance billing policy under PhilHealth. (CIO/ Leziel C. Aquino)
