LINGAYEN-The provincial government, in cooperation with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), will soon provide assistance to disadvantaged workers in the province to sustain their basic needs.

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan approved on Monday a resolution authorizing Governor Amado Espino, Jr. to enter into an agreement with the DOLE for the implementation of its “Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa ating Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) Program.”

Board Member Nestor Reyes, vice chairman of the committee on labor, said the program aims to provide assistance to community groups in developing sustainable enterprises or undertakings to generate income through wage and self-employment.

The provincial government will provide 20 percent of the total project cost approved by the labor department as its counterpart. (PIA/Elsha Soriano)
