PhilHealth assures no interruption in delivery of benefits
THE Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) in Region 1 assured its members that their full benefits will be honored in private hospitals.
The government-led health insurer issued this announcement after the
Private Hospital Association of Philippines Incorporated (PHAPI) gave the assurance that its members and dependents will not deduct amounts covered by PhilHealth in patients’ medical bills.
Elvira Ver, vice president of PhilHealth Region 1, gave the assurance amid a confusion created by media reports that private hospitals may exclude PhilHealth benefits aftey they have complained of delayed payments by Philhealth.
She reiterated the press statement of Dr. Rustico Jimenez, president of PHAPI, that private hospitals will continue to accept PhilHealth patients and benefits due them will be honored.
Ver said PhilHealth has already created a working team for the “Oplan Zero Backlog” to address claims of partner hospitals.
“In Region 1, we have extended the office hours and [required staff to render overtime services] even during weekends to be able to pay the private hospitals on time,” Ver said.
PhilHealth Region 1 has already paid some P290 million for the period of May 24-31 and P448 million for the month of June over to the estimated amount of P200 million owed by PhilHealth to private and government hospitals from the last week of May.
Ver said the corporation remains viable with its fund reserves amounting to P116 billion.
