AFTER successfully bagging two consecutive awards as the most outstanding local government unit (LGU) in the promotion of small and medium enterprises through the Credit Surety Fund (CSF) program of the Banko Sentral ng Pilipinas, Pangasinan is determined to make it to the national hall of fame next year.

This was disclosed by Provincial Administrator Rafael Howard F. Baraan during the regular flag-raising ceremony held last July 21 when the award was formally presented to the provincial government.

Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member Amado I. Espino III, who represented Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr. expressed elation as he commended the present administration for working very hard in pursuit of genuine development for Pangasinan.

BM Espino, who represents the grassroots level being the LIGA ng mga Barangay Federation President, said that the award which came in two consecutive years manifests the provincial government’s serious concern to eradicate poverty in the grassroots and empower households in the community to become more productive.

Meanwhile, the provincial administrator mentioned that the present administration has set its sight in making it as hall of famer next year with a projection of more intense participation of cooperatives and non-government organizations in the province.

Baraan said that more than the prestige, the Espino administration is keen on empowering every Pangasinense household and to eventually become productive.

Aside from the cooperatives and NGOs, plans are underway to include the provincial employees among the beneficiaries of the program.

Baraan said that the governor’s goal to empower every Pangasinense household redounds to the benefit of the provincial employees especially the rank and file who depend only on their meager income as source of livelihood.

The provincial administrator said that to date, the Pangasinan CSF has facilitated the release of P91million to 18 CSF-member cooperatives in the province engaged in various livelihood ventures such as rice and corn production and trading, livestock and piggery among others.
