LINGAYEN—The holding of special elections by the Liga ng mga Barangay (LB) of Binmaley to finally resolve its leadership issue was recommended by LB regional federation headed by Pangasinan LB provincial federation president and ex-officio board member Amado Espino III.

Espino said it was the consensus of the July 15 regional board meeting to submit the proposed action to the he LB National Executive Board.

The Binmaley LB issue was sparked by a complaint of acting Binmaley LB president Arsenio Merrera on the legality of the election of Barangay Balogo chieftain Douglas De Los Angeles as the town’s LB president.

Though De Los Angeles got majority of the votes in the election held on November 9, 2013, his election was said to be invalid because there was allegedly no legitimate authority that called for the election. (Johanne Margarette R. Macob)
