TEAM Energy Corporation (TEC), which operates the coal-fired power plant in in Sual town, has recently embarked in two new Safety and Health programs to achieve Zero Accident by the year 2016.

Supplementing its existing OSH programs, the Kasangga ko sa Safety (KAKOSA) and Safety Mo, Ipapatrol ko will ensure zero injury in all categories, according to Ruben Licerio, TEC Station Manager.

The KAKOSA is a buddy system where one is required to be watchful of his friend, co-worker, companion or partner in making sure that while working inside the plant premises, the latter’s job is done correctly.

Licerio explained that accidents are usually caused by unsafe behavior by workers and that these can be prevented by emphasizing safety attitudes.

“Everyone acts as a brother to everybody else-supervisors to their staff, staff to their supervisors, staff to staff, supervisors to supervisors and employees to contractors-to correct unsafe practices,” he said.

On the other hand, the Safety Mo, Ipapatrol Ko aims to improve health and safety practices and awareness among employees and contractors by continuously reminding them through safety roving patrol, safety and health inspections and information dissemination on safe work practices based on station and corporate procedures and OSH standards.
