Soon, solar-lighted Lingayen baywalk
LINGAYEN—Expect the Lingayen baywalk to be buzzing with community activities at night. Reason: It will soon be fully lighted.
Last June 2, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) approved provincial resolution no. 586-2014 authorizing Gov. Amado Espino Jr. to enter into a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with San Roque Power Foundation Inc. (SRPF), Team Energy Foundation Inc. (TEF), and Trademaster Resources Corporation (TRC) for the implementation of the solar streetlights project at the baywalk area at the Lingayen beachfront.
The proposed MOA will be signed by Espino, SRPF president and chief executive officer Ryukichi Kawaguchi, TEF chairman and president Federico Puno, and TRC president Cris Giovanni Chiong.
“The Lingayen baywalk is envisioned by the provincial government of Pangasinan as an additional attraction to the historic and tourist destination Lingayen beachfront where people from all walks of life could converge and relax,” declared the resolution authored by Board Member Generoso Tulagan Jr.
The baywalk is seen as a suitable place for promoting solar energy “as alternative source of power in the province.”
There is also a plan to build concrete benches along the baywalk, also through private participation, according to 2nd District Rep. Leopoldo Bataoil, the prime mover of the baywalk project.
He said additional funding can be expected from the General Appropriations Act (GAA) 2015 for the expansion of the stretch of the baywalk area.–Johanne R. Macob
