Police patrollers’ shooting skills tested

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan June 02 (PIA) –Criminals, beware the police patrollers in the province.

Cops assigned to street patrols recently particiapted in a  “Patrollers Challenge”, a shooting competition organized by the Provincial Police Office (PPO) to test their marksmanship.

Teams of four patrollers from the various police stations in the province demonstrated their skills in handling armed criminals in the streets.

P/Sr. Supt. Sterling Raymund Blanco, provincial director, said the shooting competition replicated possible real-life scenarios in check points, motorized anti-street crime operations, mobile, bike and the police-community assistance referral team (CART).

The competition evaluated patrollers’ responses to various scenarios, said P/Sr. Insp. Ryan Manongdo, provincial police spokesperson.

The government has already provided 99.36 percent of police officers in the province with fire-arms, Manongdo noted.

Among the 2,200 police officers in Pangasinan, only 14 who are performing administrative tasks at the PPO headquarter have not been issued with firearms. (PIA1-Pangasinan/EMS)
