SAN CARLOS CITY–A two-storey building that will house emergency and operating rooms will soon be constructed in a 720-square-meter lot at the Pangasinan Provincial Hospital (PPH) compound.

Dr. Anna De Guzman, provincial health officer, said the emergency room will be at first floor of the building while the second floor will house the intensive care unit (ICU) and operating rooms as well as diagnostic equipment for computed tomography (CT) scan, magnetic resonance imaging, and X-ray.

The P45-million project will be jointly financed by the provincial government, which will contribute P25 million, and the Department of Health, P20-million.

The project is expected to be completed in seven months.

“The project is for us to help more patients… No’ng una akong dumating dito ang pasyente 47, ngayon minsan umaabot ng 600,” said Governor Amado Espino Jr. who announced the project last June 20 as he celebrated his birthday at the PPH.

After distributing food packs to the 416 patients, he expressed hope that the patients are now confident that the provincial government will fully care for them.

Asked of his birthday wish, Espino quipped, ” sana walang malakas na bagyo ang tumama sa ating probinsya.”–Johanne R. Macob
