NINETEEN Dagupeños are now equipped with  skills in 2D animation after graduating from a course offered under the city’s livelihood program called Project B.E.L.E.N. ( Better Education for Livelihood and Employment Needs).

The program, sponsored by the city government in cooperation with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and TechSkills Philippines Incorporated, is in line with the priorities of Mayor Belen T. Fernandez to provide livelihood opportunities to every Dagupeño, especially the less privileged.

In her message during the graduation rite last June 6, Fernandez encouraged the graduates to continue harnessing their talents and skills which, she said, are God-given.

“Not everyone has the talent to make a 2D animation. That is why, you are very fortunate that God has given you a gift that you can use for a living,” Fernandez said as she expressed her joy viewing samples of the works of the graduates.

TESDA Provincial Director Engineer Manuel B. Wong said the graduates can now be self-employed or employed in business processing and outsourcing companies.

“What is good about 2D animation is that this is one of the most sought after course nowadays being one of the key employment generators in the whole world,” Wong said.

Fernandez said the city will employ three to five of the graduates to work at the city hall for the preparation of educational materials in 2d animation for children, especially on the city’s anti-dengue campaign.

Mas maiintidihan at mas ma-appreciate ng mga bata ang kampanya natin if we present it in a 2d animation presentation,” Fernandez said. (CIO/JCB)
