Dagupan to spend P3M for drainage system
THE Dagupan City government is allocating its P3 million performance challenge fund (PCF) for the construction of a drainage system in Barangay Lucao and will release another P3 million from the local budget to upgrade the road in the community.
Dagupan received the performance challenge fund from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) last Monday through Rhoderick Dawis, chief of DILG Dagupan.
“This is a reward from the DILG for your good performances as government employees, that’s why we achieved the seal of good housekeeping award,” Dawis told the mayor.
For her part, Mayor Belen Fernandez said “Many will benefit from this amount especially the residents of barangay Lucao as well as the motorists who pass through it going to the western part of Pangasinan.”
The barangay is perenially flooded during rainy season.
Fernandez also thanked the DILG for its support to enable the city to use a new dredging machine of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) while allotting funds for the machine’s fuel for a three-month operation in the Dagupan rivers.
“We could not thank (DILG) Sec. (Mar) Roxas enough for all the support he is giving our city”, Fernandez said.
Flood experts suggested the dredging of the silted Sinocalan river since some areas still get flooded despite the upgrading of roads and the construction of other drainage systems last year. – Dada Austria
