All Pangasinan cops finally armed

LINGAYEN– The campaign against criminality in the province gets a much-needed boost with the issuance of short firearms by the Pangasinan Provincial Police Office (PPPO) on Monday (May 12) to over a hundred police officers in the province.

Some 171 police personnel received their issued caliber 9-millimeter Glock with complete accessories, magazines, and ammunition.

PPPO information officer P/Insp. Ryan Manongdo said the latest issuance completes the requirements for short firearms for 725 field personnel leaving only 14 administrative personnel still unarmed.

Last year, 399 guns were distributed followed by 155 and the third was 171 for a total of 725 Glock17 Gen4.

Manongdo said 99% of the total strength of the provincial police force are already armed.

He said police elements on patrol can now respond with full confidence knowing that they can defend themselves if attacked by criminal elements..- Johanne R. Macob, Tita Roces
