BORROWERS of closed Gulf Bank (Rural Bank of Lingayen, Inc.) have been advised by the Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation (PDIC) to continue to pay their loans and transact only with authorized PDIC representatives.

Loan payments can be made directly at any Philippine National Bank (PNB) Branch under account name PDIC FAO BURL GULF BANK and the deposit slips must be kept as proof of payment.  Official receipts will be issued by PDIC upon validation of payments.

PDIC, in a statement, stressed that bank collectors are no longer engaged and have no authority to collect payments.

The Monetary Board placed Gulf Bank under the receivership of the PDIC on April 3, 2014.

INSURANCE PAYMENTS

Meanwhile, Gulf Bank depositors started receiving their deposit insurance claims from PDIC last April 25.

Servicing of claims for the bank’s head office in Lingayen will be on April 28 and 29; Alaminos Branch and Dagupan Branch on the 28th.

Depositors with validated deposit balances of P50,000.00 and below, with complete mailing address found in the bank records or updated through the Mailing Address Update Form, and without any outstanding obligation with the bank do not need to file claims.

The procedures, requirements, and forms for the filing of deposit insurance claims are posted in the PDIC website, www.pdic.gov.ph.
