HUNDREDS of torches lit up Dagupan City during the observance of Earth Hour last March 29.
The hour-long Torch Parade for A Cause that started at 8:30 p.m. at the Senior Citizens’ Park, was organized jointly by the Jollibee-Rosita Lim Group (RLG) stores, city government, and provincial environment and natural resources office (PENRO).

“We like to encourage the conservation of energy… and the torch symbolizes the ignition of involvement from the community,” said Charles Cornel, officer-in-charge of Jollibee-A.B. Fernandez.

Cornel added that the event kicked off their “Be one of us” campaign, which urges stronger community involvement in various activities for-a-cause.

In the morning of the earth day, the Jollibee-RLG stores located in A.B. Fernandez, Dagupan-East Junction, Calasiao, Lucao, and Lingayen, also held coastal, river, and drainage systems clean-up in their respective host towns.

“We (also) keep on finding ways to improve our materials (to make them more environment-friendly), added Cornel.–Johanne R. Macob
