LINGAYEN- -Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Z. Calimlim, Jr. thanked the local government of Alaminos City headed by Mayor Arthur F. Celeste for the warm reception extended to the provincial board when the 8th Sangguniang Panlalawigan held its first out-of-town regular session on February 24 at the Provincial Agricultural Field Office in the city.

The vice governor said the out-of-town session is one way of “bringing the services of the provincial government closer to the people.”

“This is your provincial government in action and this is what Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr. envisioned,” Calimlim said, adding that the present administration’s focus is on the provision of various services for the entire province.

Calimlim also commended LGU Alaminos for working hand-in-hand with the Espino administration and that a better working relationship has flourished thus resulting to more positive results in terms of development not only for the city but for the province.

After the regular session, the members of the board conducted committee hearings also in the same venue and tackled different concerns of various LGUs.

Celeste, for his part, thanked the administration of Espino for everything it has extended to the city as he vowed to support the provincial government in all its worthy undertakings.

“I am looking forward to a more fruitful working relationship with the provincial government,” Celeste said.

Meanwhile, Board Member Alfonso Bince made a proposal that an island in the famous Hundred Island Park be named after the provincial board.

“It will be an honor for the provincial board to adopt one of the islands,” the senior board member said as the entire board made a commitment that the adoption will cover the development of the said island.

Celeste readily accepted the proposal saying the realization of the plan will serve as an added attraction for the park and will further bolster the city’s tourism thrust.
