Pangasinan receives ISO-certifications
LINGAYEN—Pangasinan received another feather on its cap with two certifications for passing international standards.
The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2008 certifications — one for the administrative and support services departments and the other for the Provincial Health Office (PHO) – are proofs that the services being provided by the two offices have passed international standards set for quality management system.
The Certification International Philippines Inc. (CIPI), an ISO-accredited certifying body, represented by its managing director Renato Navarrete, presented the two certifications to the Governor Amado T. Espino Jr. last March 17.
As an ISO 9001:2008-certified provincial government, Pangasinan now belongs to the elite club of public and private firms and organizations that are compliant with internationally accepted standards and management systems and procedures for their outstanding performance.
CUSTOMER SATISFACTION
The ISO writes on its web page that the support services department of the provincial government and the PHO have demonstrated “its ability to consistently provide product that meets customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements” and geared to further “enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of the system, including processes for continual improvement of the system and the assurance of conformity to customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.”
Espino, elated over the international endorsement, remarked, “For the provincial governor, the best recognition is to know that the people we are serving are very satisfied with the job we are doing.”
He also vowed that his leadership will continue providing quality services to the public.
The certification for the administrative and support services covered the recruitment and training process, the information technology, the building and equipment maintenance, the procurement and minor repair and maintenance of facilities and fixtures, finance, and investment and planning.
On the PHO, department chief Dr. Anna Ma. Teresa De Guzman said the ISO certification indicates that people availing health services are assured of internationally-accepted system and services- from admission, consultations, calibration of equipment, preventive maintenance of ambulances, to safe preservation of goods and medicines.
Pangasinan PHO is the first and only PHO in the country that is ISO-certified for its quality management system including the formulation of health plans, capability-building, monitoring, and evaluation of health programs.
The Pangasinan Provincial Hospital (PPH) is set to receive its own ISO certification this month.
The ISO certifications will be valid for three years.
According to Human Resource Management and Development officer Janette Asis, ISO 9001:2008 also gave the province the responsibility to observe the standards set to assure process performance, performance gap, client satisfaction.
She said that the provincial government will orient all heads of offices to enroll their services to ISO certification.” (PIO)
