Gintong Binhi ng Karunugan scholarship extended

LINGAYEN— Ten students will benefit annually from the Gintong Binhi ng Karunungan scholarship program for engineering and technology courses under its expanded program.

The program, which has been ongoing in the past three academic years, is a collaboration among Team Sual Corporation (TSC), operator of the power plant in Sual town, the provincial government, Department of Education-Pangasinan I and II, Colegio de Dagupan (CdD) and Pangasinan State University (PSU).

Under a renewed Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), scholarships will again be awarded to five students from Pangasinan starting academic year 2014 and another five in 2015.

The scholars can choose a five-year engineering course or a three-year ladderized technology course at CdD or PSU.

Gintong Binhi ng Karunungan, conceptualized by TSC, aims at producing more engineers in Pangasinan.

Beneficiaries receive P20,000 for tuition and miscellaneous fees plus P4,000 allowance.

Applicants should be a high school graduate of any school in the province, graduated with a final grade of at least 85% in English, Math, and Science, bonafide resident of a Pangasinan municipality for at least five years, has good moral character, and passed the entrance examination given by the partner school.

Tuition benefitsshall be paid by TSC directly to the school while allowances will be deposited by TSC bank account of the scholar.

Governor Amado Espino jr. will sign the MOA with Ruben Licerio, vice president and Sual station manager; Maria Teresa Lopez, assistant vice president of Corporate Affairs of TSC; Alma Ruby Torio, division superintendent of DepEd-Pangasinan 1; Viraluz Raguindin, division superintendent of DepEd-Pangasinan 2; Victoriano Estira, president of PSU; and Voltaire Arzadon, president of CDD.—Tita Roces with report from Johanne R.
