PACEBOOK ANNIVERSARY

LINGAYEN–Former President Fidel V. Ramos and former Speaker Jose de Venecia Jr. joined the province’s media practitioners at the President Hotel here to mark the 3rd year anniversary of Pacebook Magazine on March 1, during which 25 outstanding Pangasinenses were honored.

Ramos cited the magazine for giving recognition to Pangasinenses who have performed commendably in their chosen fields and endeavors.

“They give life and substance to the magazine’s advocacy of exhorting the many doers are able to   improve the lives of others,” Ramos said.

The awardees were Gov. Amado Espino Jr., Archbishop Socrates Villegas, Reps. Rosemarie Arenas, Georgina De Venecia and Leopoldo Bataoil, Dangerous Drugs Board Chairman Antonio Villar Jr., Mayors Belen Fernandez,  Ricardo Camacho Carlito Zaplan and Gwen Palafox Yamamoto; Abono  Party-List chairman Rosendo So, Dr. Joseph Roland Mejia, Atty. Gonzalo Duque, Atty. Liberato Reyna Jr, Dr. Robin Navarro, Engr. Reynaldo Mencias, FAMAS president  Angelo Padua accupressure specialist Eddie Quinto, Dr. Vicky Siapno Tada,  television journalist Maki Pulido, evangelist Bro. Danny Espiritu, Zeny Palisoc, artist Claireyenne Malanyaon and businessman-philanthropist Ashok Vasandani.

In the same occasion, De Venecia inducted the officers of the Pangasinan Association of Columnists and Editors (PACE) and commended the group for its role in “encouraging professionalism in the print media.”

The new set of PACE officers is composed of: Cesar Carpio, board chairman; Juanito Velasco, president; Ruel Camba, vice president; Ramon Santillan, secretary; Jesus Perez, treasurer; Lelia Sy, auditor; Liezle Inigo, PRO; Abe Belena, Eddie Ferrer, Orly Guirao, Lorna Germogeno, Mel Velasco, Mortz Ortigoza, Leu Paragas and Ruben Rivera, directors. Atty. Gonzalo Duque, Rhee Fer Hortaleza, Mita Duque, advisers.

The group has also created a committee to anthologize the works of Pangasinan journalists and writers including Carlos Bulosan, Ermin Garcia Sr., Bayardo Estrada, and National Artist Frank Sionil Jose, among others.
