LINGAYEN – Education is the greatest equalizer in life.

This was the message of Governor Amado T. Espino, Jr. to graduating students of the Pangasinan State University (PSU) Lingayen Campus during their graduation ball last March 24.

“Education is a life-changing opportunity that enables a person to contest with competitors in real life after a four or five-year academic engagement,” the governor told the Class 2014 graduates of the institution.

“While you leave the portals of PSU, you also begin another chapter in your life, but we want all of you to be proud of the institution,” Espino said, noting that he studied for a year in PSU — where his father Amado Espino, Sr. taught — before pursuing a military career at the Philippine Military Academy.

“It’s a world for you to conquer. Hindi kayo dehado. PSU graduates can compete with the best,” the provincial chief executive said.

The ball, which was organized by the Supreme Student Council (SSC), carried the theme “Building Globally Competent and Socially Responsible Young Professionals”.

About 1,453 students from the Lingayen campus will receive diplomas along with graduates from eight other campuses of the PSU on April 8 at CSI Stadia in Dagupan City.

Dr. Nelia C. Resultay, Campus Executive Director, who just arrived from an academic exchange with administrators of a university in Thailand, said teachers are obliged to attend the event to show support to the student body.

“The presence of university and campus officials as well as teachers in student activities like this will boost the morale of the graduating students,” she added.

Resultay also thanked the governor for his unwavering support to the studentry.

SSC OIC President Maria Angelica Salcedo likewise thanked Espino for giving the student body leeway to use the NRSCC gymnasium for the activity.

The event was also attended by Dr. Fe Soriano, Associate Executive Director; Cristie Marie Dalisay, Coordinator for Student Sevices; Campus Registrar Helen Braga-Mabanta; and some faculty members of the campus. (PIO)
