Dagupan releases P6.2-M for barangays’ projects

THE DAGUPAN City government has released P6.2 million as subsidy to the 31 barangays, at P200,000 per barangay, for various developmental projects and programs.

A transparency accountability report released by City Budget Officer Luz de Guzman during the mayor’s executive meeting with her department heads last Monday showed that checks of P200,000 each was already released for 29 barangays while another check is under processing.

The check for Barangay Tambac is still on hold pending the presentation of its developmental projects by Barangay Chairman Wilfredo Salayug.

Based on the accountability report, eight barangays will use their share of the subsidy to construct or repair their respective material recovery facilities (MRFs) to improve environmental sanitation  in the city, a priority project of the new city administration.

Barangays Bacayao Norte, Pantal, Pugaro, Salisay and  Malued  will use their respective subsidies to construct their MRFs, while Barangay 1, Bonuan Gueset and Mangin will use theirs to repair existing MRFs.

On the other hand, Barangay I, Barangay II, III , IV, Calmay, Bonuan Binloc and Tambac will use their respective financial subsidies in buying motorcycles, which will be converted into receptacles called “garong” that will be harnessed for garbage collection.

The other barangays will use their funds in elevating pathways, repair of barangay hall and outposts, purchase of tents and monoblocks,  repainting sidewalks and  barangay halls, declogging and/or declogging of drainage canals, construction of barangay roads, fabrication of concrete railings along Pogo Grande Bridge, rehabilitation of existing drainage system, buying one fishing boat and construction of comfort room for a day care center.

Barangays Caranglaan, Herrero-Perez  and Pogo Chico  will use theirs to purchase dump trucks while Lasip Chico will use it for the completion of the second floor of the Barangay Hall which will serve as a Barangay Health Center.

De Guzman said the P200,000 financial subsidy for each barangay comes from the 20 percent development fund  in accordance with the guidelines of the Department of Budget and Management.–LVM
