3 local cyclists off to Europe
TUNE-UP FOR ASIAN GAMES
THREE of the province’s promising young cyclists – Ronald Oranza of Villasis, Joshua Carino of Mangaldan and Mark Julius Bonzo of Sual – are off to Spain, the Netherlands, Malaysia and Indonesia next week to compete and train in several top races in the under-23 category as part of their build-up for this year’s Asian Games slated on September 19-October 4 in Incheon, South Korea.
The three will be beefed up by Ronda Pilipinas bikathon veterans Jemico Brioso, Ronald Lomotos and Junrey Navarra.
The six will first race in Spain on April 5 in the UCI 1.1 classified Gran Premio Miguel Indurain, and in Vuelta Ciclista a la Rioja on April 6, Clasica Primavera de Amorebieta on April 13 and the Arnop Wallaard Memorial on April 19 in Netherlands.
They will also compete in the Jelajah stage race in Malaysia on May 13 to 18 and Indonesia in the Tour de Singkarat on June 3 to 12.
