SAN CARLOS CITY—Two hitmen riding-in-tandem struck again, killing one man and leaving another wounded in a shooting in Barangay Tarece here on March 12.

The police are looking into a longstanding family land dispute as the possible motive for the murder of Wilfredo Palisoc, 42, resident of Barangay Pangalangan here and an employee of the Central Pangasinan Electric Cooperative  (Cenpelco).

Palisoc’s companion, Romulo Resultan, 42, also a Cenpelco employee, was hit on the left arm and rushed to Blessed Family Hospital this city for treatment.

The two were on board a company service vehicle and on their way to Mangaldan for a disconnection job.

Superintendent Rodolfo Castro Jr, city police chief, said investigation indicate that the fatality was another victim in a family quarrel involving a piece of land in nearby Urbiztondo town.

The Palisoc family, he added, seems to be involved in a “hitman to hitman” process of eliminating each other.

Palisoc survived a gun attack in 2008 where the suspect was allegedly his own brother, who, in turn, was himself shot in 2010.

Castro said Resultan appears to be “collateral” damage in the gun slaying.

The police chief said they have vital leads on the suspects but declined to give further details.—Tita Roces
