LINGAYEN–Provincial employees have once availed of free medical check-up, a program of the provincial government to keep its more than 3,000 workforce physically fit and healthy.

The activity, held February 19 at the Provincial Employment Skills Development Center, is part of the employees’ month celebration, a project of the present administration which is now on its third year.

This time, in addition to attention given to vital signs, employees were provided bone and nerve screening, cholesterol level determination, random blood sugar testing, dental and eye check-up and one month subscription of free medicines.

Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Z. Calimlim, Jr. lauded Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr. for leading the advocacy in introducing a “healthy lifestyle’ among the employees of the provincial government.

He said the governor’s policy to provide health benefits among employees deserves commendation.

Magpasalamat po sana tayo sa pagbibigay halaga ni Governor Espino sa ating kalusugan,” the vice governor noted.

Meanwhile, Dr. Anna Theresa de Guzman, provincial health officer, said the program is a priority of the provincial government in order to improve the quality of services rendered by its employees, including regulars, casuals and job orders.

“A healthy body means a sound mind,” she said, adding that employees can perform better if they are healthy and free from any sickness.

Janet Asis, Officer-in-Charge of the Human Resources Management Office (HRMO), on the other hand, said the provincial government is encouraging all employees to avail of the free medical benefits such as free medicines, free vitamins and get assured of a healthy lifestyle.

Maging health-conscious po sana bawat isa sa atin at samantalahin natin ang pagkakataon na ito upang makasiguro  na tayo ay malusog at walang sakit,” she said. (PIO)
