Killer of 7 in Alaminos finally arrested
ALAMINOS CITY—The suspect in the killing of seven persons, including three teenagers here about two years ago, was finally arrested in Zambales by combined police elements of Region 3 and has been turned over to the city police here Friday.
Superintendent Roberto Vocal, city police chief, said the suspect, Haron Mansongayan, is now at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in Burgos town following processing of the cases he was involved in at the regional trial court here.
Mansongayan, 38, a native of Baudi Atopa, Taraka, Lanao del Sur and resident of Barangay Bisocol here, is facing five cases of murder, including the three teenagers here, and two frustrated murder cases in another town.
Mansongayan went on a shooting spree using a caliber .45 on May 14, 2012, killing Sonny Boy Asia, 19, John David Almanzor, 14 and Wilcyn Palecpec, 19, all from Barangay Bisocol here who were then in a sari-sari store.
The other two murder cases are for the gun slaying of one Ruben Radovan, 31 on March 8 in Barangay Amandiego and Jaime Pulido, 52, on March 9, in Barangay Pocal-pocal, both in 2012.
Two homicide cases were also lodged against Mansongayan in the neighboring town of Mabini.
The city government here, through former mayor Hernani Braganza and the family of one of the three slain teenagers, jointly put up a P500,000 reward money for the arrest of Mansongayan considered as the “most dangerous” wanted person here.
The Criminal Investigation and Detection Team, Zambales Provincial Investigation Branch and Regional Intelligence Division Region 3 arrested Mansongayan in his hideout in Barangay. Burgos, San Antonio, Zambales on Tuesday.
Chief Superintendent Raul Petrasanta, Police Regional Office-3 director, said in a report that the raiding team was armed with a warrant of arrest issued by presiding Judge Elpidio Abella of RTC, Branch 55 of Alaminos, Pangasinan for murder without bail.
