LINGAYEN–The Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO) was named the best office in the 2014 Employees’ Awards and Recognition sponsored by the provincial capitol.

The Western Pangasinan District Hospital was awarded Best Performing Hospital in terms of Productivity and Quality Program.

Awardees for having the best Performance Management System were the offices of Budget (category a, 30 employees and below), PPDO (category b, 31-60 employees), Engineering (category c, 61 employees and above); Umingan Community Hospital and Eastern Pangasinan District Hospital (EPDH).

Governor Amado Espino Jr. stressed during the awarding ceremony held February 14 that the awards give recognition on how the provincial employees brought improvements in the delivery of public service

“It was difficult to convince them (employees) about another type of management… We made them feel that they are important, that they are my partners…We work like a team,” Espino recalled the struggles of introducing changes when he became governor in 2007.

ISO-CERTIFIED

Meanwhile, the Provincial Health Office (PHO) has proudly claimed that it is the “first and only provincial health office in the country that was ISO-certified on quality management system.”

Dr. Anna Ma. Teresa De Guzman, PHO chief, said with the ISO 9001:2008 certification on quality management system from International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the public is assured of systematized admission and consultations, among others.

Mas maayos, mas may sistema ang pag-deliver ng public health services,” De Guzman remarked.
At the same time, she assured that having an internationally-recognized system, does not translate to additional or increased charges in the delivery of health services.

The PHO chief also disclosed that they have recently received an approval letter from Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) President Alex Padilla allowing the 14 public hospitals in the province to enrol its indigent-constituents in PhilHealth.

She said that for this year, the provincial government has allocated enrolment for 23,000 families, with a PhilHealth premium fee of P2,400 each.–Johanne  R. Macob
