Arenas elected Red Cross governor
FORMER 3rd District Rep. Rachel J. Arenas has been elected as one of the 20 governors of the Philippine Red Cross board for a four-year term during the organization’s 30th Biennial convention last week.
Arenas, who served two terms as congresswoman before passing on the candidacy to her mother, now Rep. Rosemarie ‘Baby” Arenas, said she is thankful for the opportunity to serve the organization.
“This is a rare opportunity for me to be part of this respectable organization doing humanitarian works nationwide,” she said, adding that it was her grandmother and mother who influenced her in pursuing charitable works.
One of the identified priority projects is disaster preparedness trainings in the Visayas which was devastated late last year by super typhoon Yolanda.
The young Arenas was an active volunteer of Red Cross when she was still a student then became vice chairman of the organization’s San Carlos-Dagupan chapter in 2010.
