Mass and fireworks display held at the Capitol to welcome 2014
LINGAYEN–Governor Amado T. Espino, Jr. led the province in welcoming the new year through the celebration of a holy mass at the Capitol Plaza last December 31 followed by the traditional New Year countdown and grand display of fireworks at the beachfront here.
Concelebrated by two Lingayen parish priests, Rev. Fr. Rodolfo Somintac Jr. and Rev. Fr. Francisco Posadas, the anticipated New Year day mass that started at 7:30 p.m. was attended by more than a thousand Pangasinenses.
The governor, who was with Pangasinan First Lady Prescilla I. Espino and their family, earlier expressed gratitude to all Pangasinenses for the support given to his administration as manifested by the overwhelming votes in the May 2013 elections which led to another term of office.
Espino also thanked the provincial government for working hand in hand with him in the realization of the province’s vision and mission that earned remarkable achievements to include awards and citations both in the national and regional levels.
At 12 midnight, the sky brightened up with a 15-minute grand display of fireworks.
Spectators enjoyed the spectacular display of lights with a soft whiff of cool air coming from the Lingayen Gulf.
Others present during the event were Provincial Administrator Rafael F. Baraan, GSO Chief Rolando Diaz, Provincial Information Officer Butch Velasco, Tourism Operations Division Chief Ma. Luisa Elduayan, Management Information Services Office Chief Modesto Singson, Col. Romeo Aquino and Chief Administrative Officer Mina Francisco.
