BTF forms “Clean Dagupan” task force
MAYOR Belen T. Fernandez recenty created a special group called Task Force on Management of Material Recovery Facilities (TFMMRF) to implement a new citywide campaign on cleanliness and to check the improper disposal of wastes.
The new body which will take charge of the recovery and segregation of all recyclable materials will be headed by Allan Dale S. Zarate together with Rose Mary Teng-Mejia as his assistant.
Zarate has been pulled out from the City Assessor’s Office and Teng Mejia from the City Tourism Office to lead the unit.
Ronald De Guzman and Lorna Collado were named members while Nicanor Melecio was named technical consultant.
The TF will direct the continuing education and information campaign and the strict segregation of wastes in compliance to Republic Act 9003, “An Act Providing For An Ecological Solid Waste Management Program” and Republic Act 6969, “An Act To Control Toxic Substances And Hazardous And Nuclear Wastes.”
It will also manage all MRFs in the city in ccordination with the Waste Management Division (WMD) and the City Mayor’s Office (CMO) on the recycling and segregation program.
The cleanliness drive in the city has already earned the support of the Association of Barangay Councils (ABC) headed by ABC President and City Councilor Marcelino D. Fernandez.
The task force will submit an inventory report of all the existing MRFs to determine their operating capabilites.–with report from CIO
