92 athletes sets sights on Batang Pinoy medal

LINGAYEN—Pangasinan’s 92 athletes representing the province in the Batang Pinoy National Finals on January 28-February 1, 2014 are now in Bacolod City, ready and hopeful of bringing home medals.

During the send-off party hosted by the provincial government for the delegation last January 23, Provincial Sports Director Modesto Operana rallied the athletes to do their best in their respective sports and reminded them to show the Pangasinan kind of discipline during the event.

Meanwhile, athletics head coach Virgilio Padilla thanked the provincial government led by Governor Amado Espino Jr. for the consistent support to sports development.

The Pangasinan team grabbed the overall 2nd runner-up spot during the Batang Pinoy– Luzon Leg held last October 15-19 in Iba, Zambales with 27 gold, 28 silver and 32 bronze medals.

The provincial team underwent rigid training and tune-up bouts on Jan. 20-22 at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center.– Johanne R. Macob
