Livelihood program for 4Ps beneficiaries strengthened
AGUILAR—Aside from the monthly cash distribution, livelihood and employment initiatives have been strengthened for beneficiaries of the national government’s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).
The Regional Inter-Agency Committee on Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) spearheaded by the Department of Social Welfare and Development-Region 1 (DSWD-1) has so far paid out P26 million in capital assistance, according to Marlene Febes Peralta, deputy regional project manager of SLP.
Members of beneficiary-families have also been assisted to get jobs in government agencies.
Listed as beneficiaries in Aguilar are 2, 233 households; Bolinao, 3, 493; Mabini, 1, 433; Urbiztondo 2, 264 households.
“The implementation of SLP served almost 81 percent of these households,” Medina said.
About 40 pantawid beneficiaries from Aguila and Mabini received SEA-K (Self-Employment Assistance-Kaunlaran) capital assistance from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) also hired 194 beneficiaries and 77 non-pantawid beneficiaries.
Other government agencies helping in the 4Ps-SLP program are the Department of Agriculure, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) through technical assistance, training or direct employment. (PIA1-Pangasinan/EMS)
