A REJOINDER by the city government to the letter of the Dagupan Electric Corporation (Decorp) denying the request of Mayor Belen Fernandez for the transfer of an electric meter owned by the city located at the former MC Adore Hotel will have to wait till after new year’s day.

Fernandez confirmed that a letter has already been prepared by City Administrator Farah Decano recommending legal action against Decorp if the latter will continue to deny the mayor’s request.

However, Fernandez said she has yet to discuss the process with City Legal Officer George Mejia.

The electric meter is currently being used by the Citystate Savings Bank located at the ground floor of the former MC Adore Hotel facing Galvan Street without authorization from the city government.

The bank is a subsidiary of AMB AMC Holdings & Management Inc., which bought the MC Adore from the city government under former Mayor Benjamin Lim which transaction has been questioned in court

Decorp initially said it can not grant the request of the mayor to transfer the electric meter to the Malimgas Public Market for use of the exhibitors of the Baratillo because Citystate has filed a a libel case against it.

It offered instead to provide a temporary meter for the purpose of the Baratillo and it was rejected by the mayor’s office.

Fernandez asserts that she simply wants Decorp to comply with her request to finally put an end to the controversy surrounding the electric meter.

At presstime, the eletric meter continues to be used by Citystate.
