THE Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Dagupan has started to conduct safety inspection on establishments engaged in making, distributing and selling fireworks in the city.

F/Sr. Insp. Ferdinand Formacion, city fire marshall, said he wants to ensure that the establishments, particularly those in Barangay Bacayao Norte where fireworks-making is an industry, comply with the guidelines to avoid fireworks-related accidents during the holiday season.

He said at the weekly PIA “Pantongtongan Tayo” radio program that BFP Dagupan is prepared to respond to any fire-related incidents with fire trucks, equipment and personnel trained to take action within a seven-minute time frame.

Meanwhile, the BFP, in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry, will continue to inspect Christmas lights being sold in the market to check if these have the Import Commodity Clearance (ICC) or Product Standard (PS) Mark which signify the product’s reliability and effectiveness.
