600 runners join first ‘Police Community Run’
LINGAYEN–Some 600 runners from Pangasinan joined the first “Police Community Run” organized recently by the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPO) and the Lingayen Padyakers and Runners’ Club (LIPAD) here.
Captain Ryan Manongdo, public relations officer of PPO said the event aimed to strengthen the partnership of the police force and the general public for a safe and crime-free environment and to bring the police force closer to the public as partners for their work and civic activities in the community.
“We are very grateful for the great number of the participants who joined in this activity, from which, we saw that there is actually a unity between the police and the community,” Manongdo added.
One of the runners, Mark Brioso, student of Virgen Milagrosa University Foundation in San Carlos City, said the activity gave him the opportunity to make new friends and mingle with the police in the province.
FUNDS
“The fund raised by PPO and LIPAD will be used to buy an equipment for running that will be used for the same type of activity and also part of it will be spent to buy some communication equipment for the Philippine National Police (PNP) here,” he said.
The race started in front of the Capitol Building passing through Maramba Boulevard and national road up to the different turning points of each category, back to the finish line also in front of the Capitol Building. (PIA1-Pangasinan/EMS)
