ARCHDIOCESE 50TH ANNIVERSARY

MORE than 100 priests and deacons of the Lingayen-Dagupan Archdiocese will be joined by 45 nuns, other seminarians and lay youth for a musical concert entitled FADZ GOLD on Nov. 12 at the CSI Stadia in Dagupan as part of the celebration of the archdiocese’s 50th year as a metropolitan province.

Archbishop Socrates Villegas said the concert “will present the pilgrimage of faith that our people have taken since we were made a diocese in 1928 and an archdiocese in 1963”.

“It is a tribute of gratitude to the past archbishops and servant leaders of our archdiocese. It is a celebration of hope for the many years ahead looking forward to our centennial in 2028. We hope to make our youth and children aware of the sacrifices that our grandparents in the faith have offered so that we can be where we are right now—a vibrant, living, caring and proclaiming Church,” Villegas added.

Two shows are scheduled, 3 p.m. and 7 in the evening.

FADZ is a term of endearment that the local youth give to their priests, an abbreviated version of “Father”.

Aside from the priests and nuns, some 48 seminarians and 20 selected youth leaders will perform during the concert. Pangasinan Gov. Amado Espino Jr, Vice Gov. Jose Ferdinand Calimlim Jr and Dagupan City Mayor Belen Fernandez will also be on stage during the concert.

Proceeds of the concert will go to the newly-opened Mary Help of Christians Theology Seminary in San Fabian, which is still under construction.—Eva Visperas
