Nov. 13 a public holiday
WEDNESDAY, November 13, is a non-working holiday in the province in commemoration of the birth anniversary of the late Speaker Eugenio P. Perez.
Perez, born in San Carlos City, was the first Pangasinense to become Speaker of the Philippine Legislature (1946-1953) and helped secure the passage of the Bell Trade Act and the Parity Rights Amendment to the Constitution allowing American citizens and corporations equal access to Philippine minerals, forests and other natural resources.
R.A No. 6721,“An Act Declaring November Thirteen Of Each Year A Special Public Holiday in the Province Of Pangasinan”, was signed by former President Corazon Aquino on March 29, 1989 and remains in effect. (PIA1-Pangasinan/VHS)
