DOLE lines up job fairs; boosts campaign vs. illegal recruitment
THE Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) will conduct job fairs for local and overseas employment in the following dates and venues:
November 15-Infanta; November 18-Mangatarem; November 26-Balungao; November 29-Mangaldan.
Meanwhile, the provincial government recently teamed up with various national government agencies to battle illegal recruitment and human trafficking in Pangasinan.
Gov. Amado Espino Jr. signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) last week with DOLE, the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) to strengthen efforts to protect Pangasinenses against illegal recruiters and human traffickers.
POEA Deputy Administrative Amuerfina Reyes said an intensive information campaign, the establishment of an OFW help desk and corrective measures or law enforcement against illegal recruiters are the core elements of the MOU.
The multi-sectoral group will also seek to help victims of illegal recruitment and rescue applicants from illegal recruiters.
Victims of illegal recruiters can avail of free legal assistance in filing complaints.
The provincial government has also launched the “Bantay Barangay Tulong OFW Program” expand the services to OFWs. (PIA1-Pangasinan)
