Capitol holds swine diseases management seminar
LINGAYEN–Hundreds of livestock inspectors and swine raisers from different municipalities and cities in the province joined the swine diseases management seminar held at the Provincial Training and Development Center on November 6, 2013.
The seminar was held in line with livestock development program and livelihood program of the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian (OPVet).
According to Dr. Eric Jose Perez, officer-in-charge provincial veterinarian, a seminar on poultry diseases is scheduled next year, he added.
The swine disease seminar was organized in partnership with HIPRA Philippines, Inc.
Perez attributed the thriving local swine industry, including the trading of swine and other livestock products to the absence of major diseases affecting swine and livestock, particularythe foot-and-mouth-disease.
The veterinary quarantine checkpoints along the boundaries of the province guarantees that only healthy livestock from other provinces are traded in Pangasinan, Perez added.–Johanne R. Macob
