Bangus prices slightly up at P95-P100/kilo
DAGUPAN bangus (milkfish), known to be the tastiest variety in the coutnry, is fetching higher prices as it traditionally does in the cooler months of November to February.
From the usual P75-P90 per kilo, the market price for bangus is now at P95 to P100.
“We know that during these months, November to January even until February, climate goes cold and prices (of bangus) are relatively higher,” said City Agriculturist Emma Molina during the KBP Forum held at the Philippine Information Agency Thursday.
The increase in price is mainly due to the slowdown in fish growth during colder weather.
Molina, however, assured that her office will monitor prices for bangus and other fish varieties to ensure that these remain at reasonable levels. (PIA1-Pangasinan/VHS)
