COMPLIANT TO BPLS SYSTEM

ALCALA–Small and medium-scale entrepreneurs, even big-time investors, can now expect easier business permit processing in this town after its installing a Business Permits and Licensing System (BPLS)

The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the lead implementing agencies for BPLS, have certified the Alcala local government under Mayor Ryan Paolo Mencias as compliant to the system.

Mencias also earlier issued an Executive Order to eliminate red tape and prevent graft and corruption in the town hall’s operations.

“If we are to serve the citizenry with utmost efficiency, red tape must be fully addressed. One way is by reforming or simplifying the system that has to do with businesses,” said Mencias.

Municipal Treasurer Roselily Ferrer said that aside from easing the business processing, the compliance of local business establishments to local ordinances will also be closely monitored.

With Alcala’s compliance to the BPLS program, the town is now eligible for the Seal of Good Housekeeping Award.

DTI Information Officer Bella Cerdan said the award is one of the criteria for the release of a P1.5-million fund for projects in the town under the bottom-up-budgeting (BuB) system.  (PIA1-Pangasinan/AMM)
