STA. BARBARA–Due to a conflict in schedule with Gov. Amado Espino Jr.’s Chess Clinic, which will end on October 5-6, the much-awaited Sta. Barbara Open Chess Classic has been reset anew to October 12-13.

“We decided to move again the Sta. Barbara tournament to give much way to the more important chess activity, the Gov. Espino Chess Clinic, and to give the clinicians and visitors to participate,” said organizing Hermano Chess Club president and event director Allen Garcia.

International and national masters led by Mangatarem’s Haridas Pascua, Joel Pimentel of Manila, Rosales’ Samantha Glo Revita and Labrador brother and sister Giovanni and Cherry Ann Mejia are expected to participate.

The two-day tourney, sponsored by Sta. Barbara Mayor Carlito Zaplan and Espino and backed up by Vice Governor Ferdinand Calimlim, Jr., Rep. Leopoldo Bataoil and San Manuel hizzoner Alain Jerico Perez, will be supervised by the Pangasinan Chess League headed by its president Don Juan Sison. –JAGJr.
