THE TEN Manlincor ya Kalangweran high school students from different public and private schools in Dagupan City are off to Milpitas City in California, USA upon the invitation of Milpitas Mayor Jose S. Esteves for a 15-day trip in their country as part of a student, civic and cultural exchange of both cities.

Dagupan and Milpitas are sister cities.

The Manlincor group is headed by the young city mayor Julianne Geronimo Go of Mother Goose Special Science High School (MGSSHS) together with City Administrator Farah Marie G. Decano, who will represent Mayor Belen T. Fernandez and St. Albert the Great School Principal Adelaida Carvajal, who will serve as the students’ adult chaperone.

“The purpose of this trip is to help our students understand the diverse cultural and community perspective and help them widen their views on global issues. In terms of social benefits, this will expose our students to be more socially aware of the culture of other students of the different countries,” Fernandez said as she presented the group during the executive session last Monday at the city hall conference room.

The members of the delegation are Hermie D. Timario, Dagupan City National High School; Princess A. Pangan, Bonuan Boquig National High School; Jamie Ann T. Siapno, St. Albert the Great School; Sophie Anne Braganza, La Salette; Patricia D. Co, Pangasinan Universal Institute; Marcel Kyle S.D. Novales, La Marea Academy; Faith W. Feraren, La Marea Academy; Renzo Kouji C. Suratos, MGSSHS; and Janlie M. Bruno, Dominican School.

“By next year I hope that our finances in the city will be stable under my watch so that we can send 15 to 20 students to Milpitas if Mayor Esteves would permit us to send more than 10 as there are more who want to join the trip,” Fernandez added.(CIO)
