DAGUPAN CITY, October 18 (PIA) – More micro-small-medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Pangasinan are benefitting from the Department of Trade and Industry’s Shared Service Facility (SSF) Project.

Recent recipients of the SSF project are Pangasinan Council of Women, Inc. (PCWI) in San Fabian; Bantog Milk Processing Center (MPC) in Asingan; local government of Mangaldan; Pangasinan-Dagupan Bangus Processors Association, Inc. (PDBPA) in Dagupan City; and the Rural Improvement Club (RIC) in Binmaley, Mangabat.

DTI Provincial Director Peter Mangabat said the SSF project seeks to accelerate the MSMEs bid for competitiveness and help them graduate to a next level where they could tap a better and wider market and be integrated in the global supply chain.

Mangaldan was given P1.2 million worth of equipment to modernize the town’s “tapa” (locally known as ‘pindang’) and other processed meat products.

The equipment set includes a meat grinder machine, slicer machine, mixer, tumbler, a vacuum packing machine and digital weighing scale with a 100-kilogram capacity.

Bantog MPC also received more than P1 million worth of equipment to improve its dairy production while the PDBPA got P759, 000 for its “bangus” export development project, said Mangabat.

RIC was awarded P.495-M worth of equipment for the “bangus” processing project in Binmaley and the PCWI was granted P396, 000 to enhance the processed food production project in San Fabian.

Mangabat said eight more MSMEs will also benefit from the SSF project beginning this month. They are from the LGUs of Alcala, Mangatarem, Bayambang, Bani, San Carlos City, Tayug, Umingan and Calasiao, he said.

Meanwhile, Mangabat said that the agency also offers fund to state universities in Pangasinan that want to put up a food testing laboratory.

Those who are interested to avail of the fund can visit DTI-Pangasinan office at 2F of Star Building, Arellano Street, Dagupan City or call (075) 515-3183 and 515-4661, said Mangabat. (PIA-1, Pangasinan)
