Bugallon adopts child health advocacy

BUGALLON—The pupils in the town of Bugallon were shown the benefits good health practices by the Lingayen District Hospital Inter-local Health Zone last week as part of the latter’s child health advocacy programs.

Different lectures on child health advocacy programs such as on essential health care (handwashing, toothbrushing, deworming), common childhood illnesses and prevention, features of safe schools and child injury, dengue awareness campaign, managing stress and healthy lifestyle, and health foods for a “bright child” were conducted by various public health coordinators.

According to Health Promotion Officer Dr. John Ferrer, the said information drive in cooperation with the Provincial Health Office, is the firs in the series of children-focused campaigns of the district hospital this year.

Essential health care kits including toothbrush and toothpaste packs were distributed to each classroom.

Meanwhile, the Philippine National Police-Bugallon (PNP-Bugallon) conducted a feeding program and medical mission for 195 pupils.

According to Mayor Jumel Anthony Espino, the feeding program is the town’s response to the finding that Bugallon records the highest number of malnourished children.
