4,000 jobs for 800 jobseekers
ONLY IN DAGUPAN CITY
WHO says there are no jobs to be found in Dagupan City?
When jobseekers trooped to the CSI City Mall Atrium last October 19 for the jobs fair organized by the Dagupan City government and the Department of Labor and Employment, they were pleasantly surprised to find that they had a pick of the jobs for immediate hiring.
Around 800 job applicants came for 4,000 job vacancies and other open positions, and 102 applicants were hired on the spot. A bigger number of qualified applicants are scheduled for further interviews.
According to Public Employment Service Officer Joy Siapno, forty-four local companies and five overseas recruitment agencies participated in the fair in support of the advocacy of Mayor Belen T. Fernandez to generate more employment for city residents.
The mayor said more job fairs will be scheduled in partnership with DOLE and other agencies to boost the employment rate in Dagupan City.
Organizing job fairs has been an advocacy of Fernandez ever since she became vice mayor in 2007.
The jobs fair had the support of the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Social Security System, PAG-IBIG and PhilHealth. (CIO)
