STA. BARBARA—With areas in this town still flooded after more than a week, the sight of some of those affected that had to swim through the floodwater to get relief goods from the government, moved Third District Rep. Rose Marie “Baby” Arenas to tears.

Three days after the typhoon exited, clad in protective boots, Arenas, a known socialite, stepped into the flood herself to distribute more relief goods in the most affected barangays including Banaoang, Longos, Talibaew in Calasiao and Dalongue and Nilombot in Sta. Barbara.

“I have to personally look into their condition,” she sad. “My heart really broke when I saw people swimming through flood waters to get their share of the relief goods,” she added.

After the relief goods distribution, Arenas said medical missions will immediately attend to the flood victims who are at risk of water-borne diseases and other related illnesses.—Eva Visperas
